Netflix announced on Monday that Kountry Wayne’s debut comedy special, “A Woman’s Prayer,” will make its premiere on September 19th. This marks the first-ever comedy special from the actor and comedian. Filmed at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., the special showcases the emerging comedic talent as he explores a range of topics including fatherhood, gender dynamics, and faith. The special is directed by Jeff Tomsic, who is known for his involvement in projects such as the 2018 comedy film “Tag” and various comedy specials featuring comedians like Bert Kreischer, Steve Rannazzisi, Kurt Metzger, and the late Norm Macdonald.
In addition to Kountry Wayne and Jeff Tomsic, Matthew Vaughan from Rotten Science, known for works like “Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel” and “Kate Berlant: Cinnamon in the Wind,” served as executive producers for the special.
Kountry Wayne, one of the most sought-after touring comedians in the country, is currently on his “Help Is On The Way” tour, his second collaboration with Live Nation within two years. He previously had a successful tour called “Straight Out The Mud.” The comedian, who has also participated in the Netflix Is A Joke Festival, released his debut book named after his new tour in April.
Kountry Wayne’s special joins a lineup of recent comedy releases on Netflix, including works by Tom Segura, Mark Normand, and Jared Freid. Michelle Wolf’s latest special, “It’s Great To Be Here,” is also set for release on September 12th.
