CBC releases a first look into their upcoming series adaptation of the novel Essex County by Jeff Lemire. The five-part limited series premieres on March 19 on CBC and CBC Gem.
Essex County follows the story of the four main characters—old Uncle Lou, young Lester, Anne the rural nurse, and stoic farmer Ken—as they ebb and flow into one another’s lives, gradually weaving links between them that finally save and redeem them. It stars Stephen McHattie, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, Molly Parker, Brian J. Smith, and Kevin Durand.
Executive produced by Lemire, Eilis Kirwan, Christina Piovesan, and Andrew Cividino, Essex County, is produced in association with ITV Studios and Media Musketeers Studios. Lemire serves as the showrunner, and he co-wrote along with Kirwan. Cividino is the director. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Entertainment, Factual, and Sports; and Trish Williams is Executive Director, Scripted Content; Sarah Adams is Director, Current Productions, Drama.
