Goosebumps, the live-action series based on R.L. Stine’s popular Scholastic book series, is scheduled to premiere on both Disney+ and Hulu on Friday, October 13. Produced by Disney Branded Television and Sony TV, this 10-part series will release its initial five episodes as part of Disney+’s “Hallowstream” and Hulu’s “Huluween” events, with subsequent episodes being streamed weekly. Furthermore, the first two episodes of the series will be broadcast on Freeform on October 13th as part of their “31 Nights of Halloween” programming.
As previously mentioned, Disney Branded Television has been focusing more on Disney-owned intellectual property and has removed numerous series and specials from Disney+ and Hulu. However, exceptions like Goosebumps, which we speculated might be available on both platforms, have been made.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, commented on the series, saying, “R.L. Stine’s ‘Goosebumps’ franchise is a pop culture sensation cherished by people of all ages. We are thrilled to present this eerie new series to audiences everywhere through Disney+ and Hulu. We hope it will not only capture new audiences with its heightened thrills and chills but also resonate with lifelong fans who grew up with these stories.”
The series, written by Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman, immerses viewers in a world of mystery and suspense. It follows a group of five high school students as they embark on a dark and twisted journey to investigate the tragic death of a teenager named Harold Biddle, which occurred three decades earlier. In the process, they uncover hidden secrets from their parents’ past.
The cast of the series includes Justin Long (Barbarian) and Rachael Harris (Lucifer), along with newcomers Zack Morris (EastEnders), Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard), Miles McKenna (Guilty Party), Ana Yi Puig (Gossip Girl), and Will Price (The Equalizer).
Stoller and Letterman developed the series and serve as executive producers, along with Hilary Winston, Neal H. Moritz, Iole Lucchese, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Caitlin Friedman, Erin O’Malley, and Kevin Murphy. James Eagan and Nick Adams are co-executive producers.
Published by Scholastic, Goosebumps is one of the best-selling book series of all time, with more than 400 million English-language books in print, as well as international editions in 32 languages.
