Along with the reports of the rebranding EPIX to MGM+ starting January 2023 is the news regarding the eight-episode order of Hotel Cocaine. This crime thriller series follows the life of Cuban exile Roman Compte, CIA agent and general manager of Miami’s glitzy Mutiny Hotel, the heart of the city’s cocaine trade in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Produced by Epix Studios, Chris Brancato (Godfather of Harlem) will be the showrunner and executive producer for the series. The pilot will have Guillermo Navarro (Pan’s Labyrinth) as the director and executive producer. The program will start filming next year, with a later 2023 premiere.
