The much-awaited Bridgerton prequel spin-off series on Netflix, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, starring India Amarteifio as the young Queen Charlotte, debuted its first-look clip. The prequel recounts how the young Queen’s marriage to King George ignited a wonderful love tale and a societal shift that led to the creation of the world of the Ton, which the characters in Bridgerton inherited. There is no official date yet for the release, but there are reports that they are eying a May 4th, 2023 release date.
Along with Michelle Fairley (Princess Augusta), Corey Mylchreest (Young King George), and Arsema Thomas (Young Agatha Danbury), the cast also features Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury), and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton), who reprise their roles from Bridgerton in this series. Sam Clemmett (Young Brimsley), Freddie Dennis (Reynolds), Richard Cunningham (Lord Bute), Tunji Kasim (Adolphus), Rob Maloney (the Royal Doctor), Cyril Nri (Lord Danbury), and Hugh Sachs, who plays Brimsley, complete the cast.
Director and executive producer Tom Verica is joined by executive producer Betsy Beers. Also, Shonda Rhimes serves as a showrunner, executive producer, and writer.
