The highly successful Super Mario Bros. Movie, which became the highest-grossing video game adaptation and the third-highest-grossing animated film to date, is set to premiere on Peacock streaming platform on August 3rd. Produced by Universal and Illumination, the film will come with bonus features such as behind-the-scenes cast interviews and an immersive “Field Guide” expanding the movie. Additionally, a lyric video will feature Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) singing a song.
Based on Nintendo’s beloved games created by Shigeru Miyamoto, the film follows the adventure of Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day), two Brooklyn plumbers who find themselves in the Mushroom Kingdom. Facing their struggling plumbing business, the brothers embark on a whirlwind journey, encountering familiar characters and joining forces to defeat the power-hungry Bowser (Jack Black).
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a script by Matthew Fogel, the star-studded cast includes Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen, Sebastian Maniscalco, Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, and Charles Martinet. The film is produced by Chris Meledandri from Illumination, alongside Shigeru Miyamoto.
