Shudder and IFC Films have solidified release plans for the Argentinian horror film “When Evil Lurks,” ahead of its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section. The latest work from Demián Rugna, known for his award-winning “Terrified,” will hit theaters via IFC Films on October 6th and arrive on Shudder on October 27th. The Shudder Original, written and directed by Rugna, follows two brothers who encounter a gruesome corpse near their property, leading them to investigate with the locals. They discover that a malevolent spirit has possessed a man in their village, and as they attempt to escape, they must contend with the spirit’s relentless pursuit. The film showcases the innovative horror storytelling that Shudder is known for, and it will be a part of AMC Networks’ Film Group’s ongoing collaboration with the genre streamer.
