Netflix has revealed that they will release the Norwegian young adult movie Royalteen: Princess Margrethe, which is based on the second book of the acclaimed young adult novel series Royalteen written by Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen.
The story revolves around Princess Margrethe, who, after experiencing drama at prom last year, has to keep the secret of what happened to her to avoid bringing shame on the Norwegian royal family. When she learns of the Danish royal family’s upcoming visit, she sees it as an opportunity to finally meet Prince Alexander, whom she has been chatting with for months. Margrethe must navigate the family drama and find her footing as a strong and powerful princess, as well as a young woman in search of love.
The first movie in the series, Royalteen, was released earlier this year on Netflix and was directed by Per-Olav Sørensen and Emilie Beck. In the sequel, Royalteen: Princess Margrethe, director Ingvild Søderlind, known for her work with young adult talents in films such as All Foreigners Have Their Curtains Closed and Battle – Freestyle, will take the lead. The launch date for Royalteen: Princess Margrethe on Netflix has yet to be announced.
