Netflix announces new series, The Abandons, a Western action drama series starring Lena Headey. Kurt Sutter serves as the creator, showrunner, and executive producer. According to reports, the ten-part series will premiere sometime in 2024.
The Abandons, set in 1850s Oregon, will examine the violent consequences of defending one’s home when the line between survival and the law is blurry. Headey will portray Fiona, a matriarch who, unable to conceive children of her own, adopts four orphans. With her faith and her fiery Irish temper, she will stop at nothing to keep her family safe.
Stephen Surjik serves as executive producer and director along with Otto Bathurst, who serves as prototype director, and Emmy Grinwis.

The Abandons tells the story of a group of diverse families pursuing their Manifest Destiny in1850s Oregon. These abandoned souls live on the fringes of society, and must unite their tribes to fight against a corrupt force of wealth and power that’s trying to drive them out of their land. The Western drama will explore the bloody consequences of fighting for one’s home as the line between survival and law is blurred.
