Netflix gave a series order for The Madness, their new conspiracy thriller series. The eight-part series stars Emmy winner Colman Domingo as Muncie Daniels. He plays the role of a media pundit who discovers a murder in the dense Pocono mountains and is compelled to defend his innocence (and battle for his life).
“The Madness is a fresh take on the conspiracy thriller — turning the genre on its head with its multilayered characters, propulsive action, and swift pace,” says Peter Friedlander, Netflix vice president of scripted series for the US and Canada.
“We are proud to have such a powerhouse team assembled to bring this dynamic story to life for Netflix viewers around the world and to continue producing great entertainment with team Chernin,” he added.
The Madness is an eight-episode limited series created by Stephen Belber and serves as co-showrunner with VJ Boyd as part of Chernin Entertainment’s first look deal with Netflix. Executive producers include Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Kaitlin Dahill, and Clément Virgo, who will also direct the first two and last two episodes. Jessica Lowrey and Quyen Tran will each direct two episodes.
