Peacock announced the cast for their upcoming series, The Tattooist of Auschwitz. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Heather Morris. You can expect it to premiere sometime in 2024.
In the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War Two, a Jewish prisoner named Lale Sokolov as he goes through his assignment of tattooing identification numbers on the forearm of other prisoners. He eventually comes across Gita while inking her prisoner number on her arm. They fall in love right away, marking the start of a brave, fascinating, and incredibly human story revealed through one man’s memory of and experience with Auschwitz-Birkenau. This series tells the real-life story of Sokolov, showing the best aspects of humanity triumphing over the worst of situations.
It stars Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid) and Anna Próchniak (Baptiste). Also, Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) will also star as Morris, the author of the novel, and Jonas Nay will play Stefan Baretzki. Synchronicity Films produce The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Tali Shalom-Ezer serves as director. The EPs for the series include Claire Mundell and Jacquelin Perske.
