Peacock has announced that its television adaptation of the popular PlayStation franchise will premiere on July 27. The show follows John Doe, played by Anthony Mackie, who is tasked with delivering a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
A teaser released by Peacock shows Mackie’s character preparing his vehicle for battle while listening to Len’s “Steal My Sunshine.” Other cast members include Stephanie Beatriz and Thomas Haden Church, with wrestler Joe Seanoa (aka Samoa Joe) playing the role of the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, and Will Arnett supplying the character’s voice.
Guest roles are played by Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, and Lou Beatty Jr. According to showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith, Twisted Metal explores the theme of insiders and outsiders in a post-apocalyptic world where division and isolation are prevalent. The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television, with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Marc Forman among the executive producers.

With the help of a diverse cast of characters, including Stephanie Beatriz and Thomas Haden Church, John fights to survive and deliver his package while searching for a community where he belongs. However, the journey is fraught with danger, and John must face many obstacles before he can find the hope and connection he seeks.
